Fig Tree Pediatrics is proud to partner with Mothers’ Milk Bank, a program of Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation and one of the largest nonprofit milk banks in North America. Every ounce we dispense has been carefully screened, pasteurized, and tested, so you can feed your baby with confidence.

Donor milk is available to everyone in our community — you do not need to be a Fig Tree patient. Fig Tree families receive priority when supply is limited.

Who Is Donor Milk For?

Families come to us for donor milk for lots of reasons

Pickup and donation hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:00 am–12:00 pm.

After-hours pickup: When staff availability allows, we can arrange pickup outside regular hours for a $100 service fee. (Currently by appointment, please call our office at 303-747-4907)

Frequently Asked Questions about Human Donor Milk

  • Yes. All of our milk comes from Mothers’ Milk Bank, an accredited member of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA). Every donor completes health screening and blood testing, and every batch of milk is pasteurized and lab-tested before it is released. This is the same donor milk trusted by hospital NICUs across the region.

  • No. Anyone can purchase donor milk from us — no prescription, referral, or paperwork required.

  • Most newborns take about 1–2 ounces per feeding in the first days, increasing to 3–4 ounces per feed by around one month. For short-term bridging, one or two 4 oz bottles per day is a common starting point. Your pediatrician or lactation consultant can help you estimate based on your baby’s age and needs.

  • Yes — that’s our Welcome Baby Package ($100 for 16 oz). Purchase during pregnancy and your milk will last in your freezer for when your baby arrives.

  • Donor milk is dispensed frozen and keeps in your freezer until the date marked on the bottle. Thaw it in the refrigerator or in a bowl of warm water — never in the microwave. Once thawed, use it within 24 hours and don’t refreeze. We’ll go over storage and handling with you at pickup.

  • For safety reasons, donor milk cannot be returned or refunded once it leaves our office.

  • Start with a short screening through Mothers’ Milk Bank at milkbank.rmchildren.org/donate-milk. Once approved, you can drop your milk off with us during regular hours.

  • The most milk you can buy at one time without a pre-order is 8 bottles (32oz), depending on inventory. If you’d like more milk, we can order a larger quantity for you from Mother’s Milk Bank with a minimum of 16 bottles (64oz) which will arrive same or next business day, excluding holidays.
